About me

Hi! I'm Shelly - mother of 5 and wife to the best man in the world. We love to play games and watch movies together. I have a passion for crafting in all it's forms - sewing, scrapbooking, bow making, painting, mod podge, you name it and I'll try it. Hope you enjoy our family adventures and crafts!

How I Became Shared Jelly

When my husband and I first got married we used to get messages on our answering machine for "Shared" and "Jelly" instead of Jared and Shelly. The first time we chuckled a little over it and by the fourth or fifth time, we decided the name should stick somewhere. And so, I've been sharing jelly all over the internet since. Enjoy!

My Vinyl Family

Now our car will now longer be lost in the sea of silver vans - well, maybe still a little.  My poor children are so confused, they have often tried to get into the wrong van. Now they just need to look for our family on the back.  I've always really like these and I was excited to make our stick family with my new toy.  I like how it turned out.  I just found images I liked online and used Silhouette's software to trace the image, then I cut it onto vinyl.

Catching up on My Scrapbooking Part 2

My New Toy

I just realized that I haven't shared with you my new toy.  My wonderful, magnificent husband splurged a little for me this Christmas and bought me a Silhouette cutter.  I'm so excited and  I've been testing it out quite a bit lately on my scrapbooking.  It also cuts vinyl (new project I made will be up soon) and freezer paper and stuff.  The awesome part about the Silhouette is that you don't have to buy cartridges. You can use all of the fonts and shapes on your computer.  It's so much fun for me.  So now you know - this is how I've been doing all my lettering on the pages I've been working on. Yay!

Catching up on My Scrapbook

It feels like a its been a long time since I've blogged. . . and I guess it has been a while. The kids have been sick and then they got me sick.  Bluck!  So I've been catching up on my scrapbooking.  You're probably getting sick of it, but here is some more anyways.

Blah Week

If only life were so simple! I could use a little "fresh up."

Instead of starting this new year with a bang, I've been hit with a very blah week.  It's been full of sick kids, doctor's appointments, church obligations and not a lot of craft time. I even have some cute new fabric waiting to be transformed into something wonderful. But, alas, it must wait.

I have been working a little on catching up on my kids' scrapbooks.  I have my scrapbooks for me and I have one scrapbook for each of the kids. Inside, I do one page a year of my favorite snapshots of them from that year.  That way, when they grow up and move out of the house, they will have their own scrapbook of baby pictures and kid pictures to keep with them.  I include a brief summary of how big they are and what kinds of things they like at each age.  Great idea, right?  The only problem is I have missed the last 3 years, so I'm playing a bit of catch up.

Hopefully I'll have some fun posts coming soon.

Ham Bone Soup

I've never actually cooked with my ham bone before, but I made this for dinner last night and it came out yummy so I thought I'd share:

Ham Bone (plus any extra ham you might want to throw in)
2 cans pinto beans ( you could use dried beans, but that requires soaking overnight and all that - so I'm a wimp and I used canned beans)
1 can of corn
1 can of diced tomatoes
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. sliced carrots
2 T. barbeque sauce
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
1 clove garlic
a little rosemary

I threw it all in my crock pot in the morning and set it on low for 8 hours.  Perfect for a cold day like yesterday.

Wish I had taken a picture.

Baby Mary Janes

I wanted some new shoes for my Aliza since she's wearing out and growing out of the ones I have for her.  Here is my new creation.  I modified a pattern I already had and I think they came out pretty good.  What do you think?
